The Best Nightlife Areas in Street 51
The Street 51 in Phnom Penh is famous for their best nightlife areas treated as the party town; there are dozens of fancy bars and clubs clustered just a few steps near the riverfront. After dark, the street is very much alive with local and foreign visitors while some are even open 24 hours a day for bar hoppers. Most of these bars and clubs are a combination of sports bars with pool tables, wide screen TV, live entertainment with DJ’s and performers, disco’s and pretty decent bar girls that highly attract tourists and foreigners (Candy Publication, 2015).
Some of the best nightlife areas include the Heart of Darkness club, the favorite among the tourists, expats and local customers because of their cozy lounge, cheap drinks, music and beautiful girls. The Zeppelin Café offer cheap food and drinks while usually playing a classic rock collection of more than 1000 disc songs collections. Another is the Pontoon and the DJ Club are mostly crowded with youth visitors, both of them offer the best club experience, with popular local and international disk jockey and cheap drinks. The Saint Tropez is also popular among the elite and expats (Travelfish.org, 2015).
Getting to the Street 51 is simple; coming from the Phnom Penh Airport, taxi is still the best and simplest way to get there. This will only take around 10 minutes travel time and will only cost about KHR5, 000 Cambodian Riel. This is basically same cost estimate and travel will be incurred if they drive their own car. There is also a car for hire all over the Phnom Pen area or airport, they can even ask for car services as part of their hotel accommodation to take them from different parts of Phnom Pen and neighboring cities (Rome2rio.com, 2015).
The best nightlife areas in Street 51 are mostly busy around 7:00 pm like the famous Heart of Darkness bars and club and closed till midnight. The government of Cambodia often issue travel advice and “Festival Warning”, especially during the holiday seasons including P’chum Ben and the Chaul Chnam Khmer. During these seasons; tourists and visitors are highly crowded all over Phnom Penh there is also an increase in robberies, holdups and snatching in major streets. Foreigners and visitors are advised to bring just enough cash, shop only when needed and be more vigilant during these seasons (Ray, 2010).
