The Best Nightlife Areas in Gili Trawangan
The Gili Trawangan is just a small Island in Lombok, Indonesia; it is a combination of beach perfect for diving and one of the best nightlife areas for partying and bar hopping. Because of the beauty of the beach, they are able to attract local, foreign investors, tourists and backpackers. The success of Gili Trawangan is because of their rapid development and expansion of lands for commercial establishments during 2004 onward. Because of tourism, even the native Islanders benefitted with significant opportunities, but also environmental challenge and western ownership of the land (Hitchcock, King & Parnwell, 2008).
Some of the best nightlife areas in Gili Trawangan include the Tir Na Nog, while dining and drinking; there is a disco, full moon parties and huge screen TV for relaxation. The Blue Marlin is another popular area where visitors get crowded with their night strip party with DJ’s and loud music. The Paradise Sunset Bar offers party strip with bonfire show and dance; post-dinner and drink combination. The Sama Sama Reggae Bar and the Rudy’s Pub are two of the most crowded bar in their dance floor with full of drinks and music (Ingili.com, 2015).
From Lombok, there are several ways to get to the best nightlife areas in Gili Trawangan, the quickest way is through fast boat, but this mostly requires advance booking or scheduled travel; this will take around 30 to 35 minutes. There are also shuttle boats from Bangsal operating twice a day; it is better to charter a boat with a group for a better rate. There is also a public boat available from Bangsal Harbour, the boat will depart only after every seat is filled. The advantage is low cost, but this takes about 2 hours (Zuliani, 2015).
Gili Trawanagan Bars are usually full around 8:00 pm and close until 2:00 am. The common issues in this area are still the illegal fishing, coral reef and beach erosion (Garci & Dodds, 2010). Gili Trawangan is an environmental Island; it is highly advised by the Gili Trawangan Eco-trust that tourists, especially foreigners to follow the anti littering campaign to preserve the beauty and ecological balance of the beach. Furthermore, in their engagement to swimming, diving and fishing, it is expected that they will not harm the coral reefs or conduct any illegal form of fishing.
