The Best Nightlife Areas in Jalan Jaksa, Jakarta
Jalan Jaksa is another favorite among foreigners and backpackers, although this is just a short distance street about 400 meters, located in the Central part of Jakarta, they prefer to hang out in this area. Not surprisingly, because of their good food and low priced drinks, dishes, services and shops. Millions of foreigners visit this street every year that makes the area boomed with several hotels, bars and restaurants and other nightlife establishment (Backshall et al, 2003). Because of their popularity, they even attract local and even international DJ’s and performers in their night clubs.
The best nightlife areas in Jalan Jaksa are the Memories Café with live band, remixing pop songs and affordable drinks. The Hard Rock Café is among the favorite of the youth, expat and westerners, with light rock, bands, DJ’s. Bars that offer wilder nightlife include the Stadium which is considered the newest and biggest, Top Gun, Colosseum Club, in the Block M, Ali’s Bar has a wealth of bars that offer high sounds, disco and party. For sports and music lover visit Obama’s Fan Club or the Baby Dolls Café with some bar girl entertainers (Atiyah et al, 2002).
Going to Jalan Jaksa is fairly easy, straightforward and cheap, from Jakarta Airport, they can take the DAMRI or other bus available. The fare cost only about 20,000 Rupiah more or less. This will take them only to the Gambir Railway Station (Clark, 2009). From here they can take the motorbikes to get around the streets of Jalan Jaksa Street. There are also the three wheeled taxis in Jalan Jaksa for only about 5,000 Rupiah. Alternatively, there are also taxis available at the airport that goes directly to the Jalan Jaksa areas if they want.
The best nightlife areas in Jalan Jaksa have different opening and closing, there are also 24 hour bars like the popular Memories Café. For first time travelers, especially for those that came from the Jakarta Airport, according to Jakarta Airport Police Commissioner Kurniawan, that Jakarta is generally safe, but foreigners are the frequent targets of thieves and pickpockets, especially at the airport, they can even strike in the middle of the travel targeting the unconscious passengers taking their luggage in the middle of their travel, it is highly advised to keep an eye on their belongings (Coconut Jakarta, 2015).
