The Best Nightlife Areas in Blok, Jakarta

Blok M is one of the best nightlife areas in Southern part of Jakarta; it is the home of beautiful bar girls, drinks and music in Indonesia. The nightlife areas are usually concentrated on Falatehan part of the street. It is one of the most exciting streets among backpackers, foreigners and expats seeking wild nightlife. The reason why several nightlife including shopping malls, bars, Japanese restaurants and clubs are sprouting all over the streets is because of their close proximity to bus terminals and the low price of food and drinks (Hotels.com, 2015).

The best nightlife areas and bars in Block M is the Top Gun Bar, with lots of sexy girls, pool table, dirty podium and live entertainment. The Ds Bar, MyBar and Everest Bar have both pool table and girls while drinking,  popular among expats and backpackers. There is also the Koi Mahamakm Western Restaurant popular for western foods; the Portmans Bar and the Oscar Pub with no girls but drinks, music and entertainment of the 60’s and live band. Although they are not as glamorous as they seem, they are still considered as favorites in Blok M (Jakarta100bars.com, 2015).

The simplest way to get in to the Blok M and Falatehan coming from the Jakarta International Airport is to take the Damri bus; going to Gambir Station. From Gambir there are several motorbike taxis to take them around every streets and corners, simply ask the driver to take you to the Blok M or Falatehan. Alternatively in Jakarta International Airport, there are taxis and car rentals that can take the visitors directly to Blok M. This option is more convenient but the price is definitely much higher than, although this can be negotiated before the traveling. (Discoveryourindonesia.com, 2013).        

The opening and closing of the best nightlife areas in Blok M or Falatehan vary; some bars open as early as 7:00 pm and closed as late as 2:00 am. The latest travel warning for new visitors and foreigners going to Blok M is that currently the police and NGO’s in most areas including in malls and shopping centers, bars and restaurants are actively engaged in raiding smokers. Last September of 2015 they named 14 malls that allow indoor smoking, anyone caught smoking are given varied sanction. They also deployed several officers all over Block M (Coconut Jakarta, 2015).
