Scientific Method

Sociology / Scientific Method

1. Scientific method is a procedure that is characterized by natural science. Since 17th century, the use of this method became popular in academic institutions across Europe. The main purpose of using scientific method is to engage in a more productive method to ensure that the process of investigation has a higher accuracy rate. There are different methods that are applied through the body of knowledge that are indicated from the investigatory procedure of a subject matter that is investigated. The most common procedure is to investigate the existence of a phenomenon that is either discovered or not yet discovered by our scientists today. The scientific method involves the participation of subjects who will validate the existence of an issue to confirm the phenomena.

2. Steps of scientific method starts with making observations. This is when there is a thought that generates a curiosity to the involved researchers who are going to conduct an investigation. The next step is to think of interesting question. One example is to ask why such pattern or process occurs. This is one of the most important issues considered for a certain individual who is trying to ensure that their existence is justified. The third step is to formulate a hypothesis over the question. This is to ask the general causes of the phenomenon. Why such phenomenon exist within that particular scenario or landmark. This question will be stated as a way that it is presumed by the researcher conducting the scientific method of the experiment or the study. The main issue is to determine the presumptive issue associated with the main subject matter that has been discussed in the study.

In the continuation of the scientific method, the fourth method is to develop testable predictions. In this case, it will test if the hypothesis is correct. The fifth process is to gather all necessary information that will help to prove a certain fact. Relevant data is important that comes from the observations of other individuals. Literary sources such as previous research are also important in order to support the main subject matter of the study. Multimedia sources such as the use of image and videos are helpful to redefine the concepts used in the research process. As a result, the subject matter will have stronger evidences to the research process using the scientific method. The sixth process is to redevelop the general theories that are involved in the subject matter. The application of general theories is to consider with the most available source of data that are important to ensure that the current theories are supportive with the applicability of the subject matter.

3. As a student, the most important process is to always gather important data that are relevant to the subject matter. In the workforce, there should be a relevant aspect that will seek to find out the most important points to ensure that the credibility of the data becomes possible on supporting the subject matter. Using information gathering process helps to improve the expansion of knowledge that is indicated from each scientific phenomenon addressed to the subject matter. Supportive mechanism of including more sources enables the credibility of the research to become more reliable with the researchers. In addition, the research process seeks to consolidate all gathered data to ensure that the productivity of the research becomes feasible and functional with the subject matter (Garland, 2015).
