Abraham

Introduction

This research proposal is going to discuss about Abraham’s significance to the Christian religion. It seeks to answer the question on how Abraham demonstrated his faith to the largest known religion in the world in the modern times. Going through with the discussion, Abraham is one of the three patriarchs of Judaism. As based on the Bible, Abraham is one of the most important personalities who have played an important role for strengthening the faith in Christianity, Judaism, and Islam. Abraham thrived for at least 2000 BCE (Birth of Christ Era). The existence of Abraham made a successful faith in different religious associations. His perseverance to become a role model to other disciplines and followers of the above three mentioned religion generated influence to the community where he lived during his existence. His contributions made a significant milestone in the field of theology as his visions for the involved religion improved the practice of faith according to Levension (2012).

To answer the question, Abraham demonstrated his faith that has evidenced by how he obeyed God without questioning his existence. Abraham served the Lord whole heartedly without any doubts and restrictions towards himself and to the religion where he was affiliated to. He followed God’s will without even deciding to stop whatever issues that were challenging his faith during his existence. In the end, Abraham continued serving the Lord by offering his faith and support for whatever visions and practices provided by the God Almighty. Even though he was challenged by other leaders to denounce his faith, he still continued spreading the word of God throughout his life. He strengthened his faith despite from the obstacles that other individuals showed against him. In addition, his convictions to his own faith towards the Lord made him a special person by being a role model to other individuals as related by Witt (2012).

One apostle Paul implied a written document from the Bible regarding Abraham’s faith. In the Book of Romans 4:3 of the Christian Holy Bible, a phrase indicated that “For what does the scripture say that Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness”. To expound the faith of Abraham under the Book of Genesis 15:4-6 states that the word of the Lord came to him and says that “this one shall not be your heir, but one who will come from your own body shall be your heir.” As the word whispers towards Abraham, he was told to look up above the sky towards heaven and count the stars if you are able to number them. This means that being a righteous person can shine as bright as the stars in the sky who will be guiding the followers of the Lord until they will join the creator sometime in the future according to McKinnon (2014).

It has been indicated that Abraham’s total age reached 205, which is one of the oldest humans that could ever live on land. This is attributed to Abraham’s belief towards the Lord as a result from being a righteous person by spreading the word of God. Abraham’s age as based from different sources of archeological, biblical, and theological perspectives that this is the result for following the word of the Lord by showing the faith to other individuals to become followers. The strength in faith could translate towards a person’s physical appearance by living longer than a normal human being. In this case, it is believed that the faith of Abraham made God to perform his promises towards his faithful followers as what Abraham did. It indicates that God’s words are real and will always continue his wishes to other followers who will perform similar actions according to Barr (2013).
