Critical Thinking
Introduction
Team communication has always been a major factor in a certain group or organization. This is a regular routine practiced by a certain organization for the reason that it keeps the company become productive and proactive. This is because communication elicits information exchange between members of the team as well as intra-teams as a way to share knowledge and experience together. Through information, there is an increased awareness between the two involved individuals who have been involved in information exchange on a regular basis. This essay aims to discuss about the significance of team communication that highlights the relationship of members and their activities to improve their organization or group’s performance. It seeks to find out relevant benefits and challenges that are applied to ensure that the function of critical thinking process will be enhanced on a long-term process.
Team communication seeks to promote unification between the members of an operating organization. In terms of communication between the members of the emergency responders in the health care institution, it seeks to follow a certain process that needs to be fulfilled whenever there is an immediate intervention that are needed to be accomplished. Public health emergency agencies seek to prevent any risk of harm towards the patient as well as other employees so that the rate of mortality and morbidity becomes minimal during an emergent situation. The vision of team communication is to engage in a productive disaster management procedure that seeks to protect the patient’s life, health, and longevity while being rescued from a hazard zone. This is one of the most critical considerations applied towards hospital disaster preparedness and response plan for public health emergency. The rationale is to promote the quality of disaster preparedness, response, and rehabilitation of involved stakeholders who needs an immediate medical care within the health care institution (Bejuri, et al., 2015).
Disaster preparedness and management
Team communication starts from the developmental plan before implementing a certain activity to render disaster response plan. This is managed through the application of assessment in order to determine the cause of the problem that will be investigated before it will carry new immediate plan. Assessment will include investigating the hazard zone, number of any injured individuals who are currently within the disaster area. The emergency personnel will be retrieving individuals who perished, severely injured, and their watchers who will be given an immediate first aid and then securing them to safety. The development plan will involve investigation of the type of the emergency situation, the time of the situation, date, the reason, and the effects of the emergent situation. This may include accident, terror attack, natural disaster, and other manmade hazards that produced a significant number of casualties, injuries, and damages to properties within the area.
After the development process has been already organized, the team members will start coordinating with each other by being familiar with the scene and the proper procedure that will be applied to the affected area. This means that the team already identified the problem and will now start to adjust with the situation that seeks to create a strategy that will start responding to the area. The team members of the disaster management will start to adapt with the current situation wherein there is an existing hazard that affected several individuals or groups that are needed to be immediately transported, treated, and rehabilitated. Team members will start to inform coordinating agencies regarding the nature, impact, and the current situation of the hazard area. They are the hospital, law enforcement units, journalists, engineers, and the bystanders. It is a multi-disciplinary approach in order to unify the whole community to help retrieve all involved individuals within the hazard zone and limits other injuries affecting other individuals.
Execution of team communication starts when the injured individuals will contact the agency regarding the presence of a hazard by detailing the incident, time, date, and the consequences wherein there are casualties, injuries, and damages. After the responding emergency agency received the information, the head of the team will start delegating the members who will be responding to the area such as the paramedics. The operator of the paramedics will now relay the information to the police, hospital, and the journalists who will be responsible for preparing the area where the patients will be transported, treated, and rehabilitated, the security personnel will start securing the area to promote privacy and retrieve the belongings of the victim (Doss, et al., 2015). The medical personnel will start contacting immediate members of the patient’s family to immediately attend their injured relatives. The journalist will then utilize their mass media production to inform involved relatives of the patients.
As an implication of the discussion, team communication is an interactive process wherein each agency will try to exchange essential information with each other. Information and dissemination campaign allow each individual to become knowledgeable about the situation that needs an emergent response. For this reason, information relayed will then attended by the regulating and authorized agencies who will be handling the case in order to secure as well as to protect the interests of the involved parties. Information allow the core group to delegate proper procedures because they are the most experienced and have the highest level of knowledge to properly request specific personnel to respond to a certain hazard. In this reason, cooperation and trust is always important because it seeks to maintain the level of professionalism as well as unity between the involved parties (Dromi, 2016).
