The Best Nightlife Areas in Shuangcheng Street in Taipei
The best nightlife areas in Shuangcheng Street near the West Road MRT station are mostly old style bars, clubs and restaurants, but they are still elegant western style blocks with the traditional wide screen TV that features sports and entertainment. They are popularly called the Combat Zone or War Zone; they offer a fair price to higher priced food and traditional drinks. There are bar girls that act as good customer service staff, they mostly pushes visitors to drink more. Bars and Clubs have bar girls in high heels and fitted dress to assist customers (Alloexpat.com, 2015).
Some of the best nightlife includes the The Malibu West in Lane 25 is famous for their Western dishes and snacks with WiFi, pool and tables. The MyPlace Pub is a British Pub in lane 32, they offer wide screen TV that features sports and entertainment and pool tables as their guest drinks. The Manila Bar in line 32 is probably the most crowded and livelier with pushy bar girls and dice games (Taiwan Tempo, n.d.). The Night Market mostly offers cheap shopping and wide selection of seafoods, finger foods and street foods like dried squid and chicken claw.
Going to the best nightlife areas from the Taipei Taoyuan Airport to the Suangcheng Street, they can take the Line 1819 Bus going to the Kulun Street Intersection; this will take around an hour. From here they can walk to the Suangcheng Street. They can also take the Line 5201 Bus from the airport going to the China Youth Corps, although this will take more than one hour. From here they can walk in the Shuangcheng Street. There are also taxis in the airport going directly to the Shuangcheng Street for about half an hour ride (Rome2rio.com, 2015).
Most of the bars open around 7:00 or 8:00 pm and close as late as 2:00 to 4:00 am. New visitors and foreigners are warned that most of the bar girls are pushy to ask for more drinks. Bar girls are plain aggressive, they are waiting in front of the entrance to invite visitors and to push them to come to the bar. Although not all of them are prostitutes, visitors should be ready to spend more if they fall into this trap, but they don’t be afraid to simply refuse them if needed (Taipei Guide, 2010).
