The Best Nightlife Areas in Old Quarter: Bia Hoi Junction
The Old Quarter in Hanoi is the old ancient commercial center where Buddhist temples and the famous Pagoda in Hoan Kem District can be found (Mason, 2010). Today the Old Quarter in Hanoi found a new image and considered as part of the Bia Hoi capital of Hanoi where beer drinkers crawling and bottoms up has become the famous nightlife activities. Beers are cheap; they can buy a dozen of beer in as little as $10 dollars, as side dishes there are several inexpensive street finger foods and peanut street vendors to match the beers (Fodor, 2015).
The Bia Hoi Junction in Old Quarter is the center of the best nightlife areas and activities in Hanoi, the most famous low cost beer Hoi can be found here in the open streets. Some of the best nightlife areas for Bia Hoi are in the corners of the Old Quarter including the P Ta Hien and bustling corner and intersection of P Luong Ngoc Quyen, they are the favorite places among local and foreign backpackers. Alternatively, there are Bia Hoi junction in P Nha Hoa and P Duong Thanh (Ray, 2010).
The Bia Hoi streets and corners in the Old Quarter are easy to locate because of their popularity, at the Noi Bai International Airport, they can take a taxi for around $18 dollars to $20 dollars. There are also several buses, including Jetstar bus, Airline bus and if they have a booking, they can even pick up visitors directly from the airport to the old quarter. The Vietnam Airlines also provide minibus, most of the buses and minibuses available depart after filling in passenger seats every 30 minutes, travel time is about 45 minutes to an hour (Adventurefaktory.com, 2015).
The Bia Hoi Junction in the Old Quarter opens late night 10:00 pm onwards. Visitors are advised that most bars are not a luxury bar. Most of their furniture is made of simple wooden or plastic chairs; there are also traffic, smoke and pollution within the area. Some of the beers served are a combination of fresh brewed, branded and locally made beers. For those that are looking for high class atmosphere, this is not what they are looking for, but for those who want to experience the real drinking culture of Hanoi, they are welcome here (Tripadvisor.com, 2015).
