Introduction
Information technology plays an important role for improving the responsibility of the organization. This paper will be discussing about an information technology project that helps companies improve their management. It seeks to find out the significance of information technology in order to ensure that the productivity of the institution becomes more diligent within the company. Going through the discussion, the chosen project is the establishment of an electronic health record that plays an important role for improving communication facilities of a health institution. Hospitals are health institutions that need a constant communication processing. This is because hospitals need information to be delivered to their intended recipients. This is an information technology facility that seeks to ensure that the quality of care provides an efficient responsibility on treating patients will disabilities and ailments.
Information health records are designed to document all health care procedures that are ongoing in the hospital. Health records provide a vital reference for the hospital to create a resource point in all activities happening within the institution. The main department responsible for processing health records is the registrar. The central records section is responsible for keeping and releasing files for professional and legal purposes. The doctors and nurses have the power to retrieve patient’s information in order to ensure that they provide the right amount of care in the hospital. The doctors are also responsible for changing any necessary health procedures for the papers so that they are able to monitor the progress of the patients even if they are already discharged from the hospital. The health records provide vital information regarding the patient’s health history during the time of the treatment.
As for legal issues, the project on electronic health records provides an essential reference for the patients whenever there is a legal proceeding. Sometimes, patients will seek for a legal dispute if there are procedures that went beyond their control. This usually happens especially when there are medical practices that didn’t work out effectively in the hospital. Patients will seek for lawsuits against the hospital for compensation and damages. This is when the prosecutor requests the records of the patient involved in the lawsuit. If the patient will prove that the procedure had indeed violated a certain standards of practice, it will then impact the credibility of the hospital. Ethical procedures will apply to all involved health care workers. All involved workers will subject for ethical sanctions who have been involved in a procedure that violates certain rules.
There are numerous clinical implications for all health records applied within the community, in particular with the health care institution providing care for the patients. Therefore, it has been concluded that electronic health records provides vital information for all health care workers to do their job. The main purpose of electronic health record is to ensure that communication becomes an efficient connector between the patient and the health care workers. For this reason, it has been implied that the project that utilize health record promotes evaluative measures to keep procedures intact. This is the reason why all records are then kept by the authorized personnel who wants to ensure that privacy will be ensured for the patient. This is because information keeps the dignity of the patient to be always intact away from any third party individuals or groups (2017, Thomas).
