The Best Nightlife Areas in Ao Nang, Krabi

The Ao Nang is a coastal bay area in Krabi, Thailand and basically populated with commercial establishments, including pubs and restaurants and commercial shopping arcade with the best nightlife areas and light activities. Nightlife here is less popular and less expensive compared to other neighboring cities. For daytime and outdoor activities, Ao Nang is also best for its geographic region for scuba diving, long tail boat and rock climbing that attracts a huge influx of tourist, especially during summer and peak season coming from Europe and the rest of the world (DK Eyewitness Travel, 2012).

The best nightlife areas are mostly located at the Ao Nang Center Point including Sabina and The Airport Bar that also offers food and drinks with pretty ladies, live music and entertainment. The Soi RCA Entertainment has 12 different bars such as Lovely Bar, Amy’s 69 Bar and several other bars in the Southern part of Ao Nang. They offer drinks and entertainment with pretty girls. Finally the Irish Rover is a place to go in Ao Nang for locals and foreigners who simply want to taste a wide selection of drinks and Irish cuisine (Krabi-hotels.com, 2015).

From Bangkok to Krabi is just about 20 to 30 minute bus ride and from the Krabi town proper, Ao Nang’s best nightlife areas are easily accessible by hiring a taxi. The Krabi Airport is just 16 kilometers away in Ao Nang nightlife area; they can also travel by local bus or Song-thaew. This will cost around 60 to 150 Baht per person. As an alternative, they can also hire a motorcycle or private car if they want a more comfortable ride, although this will cost more than 500 Baht (Aonang.com, n.d.).

The opening and closing of different nightlife centers in Ao Nang vary as early as 7:00 pm opening to about the regular 2:00 pm closing time. Ao Nang was badly damaged by the Tsunami last December of 2004 and thousand of locals and foreigners died in the incident. It is highly advised by the Ao Nang Tambon and Krabi Provincial Administration and with the support of the World Trade Organization that tourists must not to harm the mangroves and protect the natural resources to prevent another devastating occurrence to protect the environment and people (Maxwell & Miller, 2012).
