The Best Nightlife Areas in Mandalay
The Mandalay district does not have the extravagant bars and clubs compared to Yangon, but they have a unique nightlife experience where Puppets and Comedy Shows are alive, the city is known for the Moustache Brother show where the traditional classic theater act is performed daily. The Moustache Brother group makes a great presentation hilarious comedy and political parody mostly represented by Mandalay Marionettes and puppets. They have gained numerous international and local awards to capture local and international audience worldwide because of their daily performance of slapstick, clowns, comedic, mellow drama (Abram, 2014).
The best nightlife areas in Mandalay include the Gem Club and the Kipling Lounge that offers usual eating and drinking and live music and entertainment. Finally the Marionette in C3, 66th St., they performed different acts such as string puppets, human size puppets, animal puppets and more. There are also cultural and traditional dances. It is the legacy of Myanmar’s culture since the 11th century and mostly watch by royalties, during the 1980’s it was made available for the public to capture foreigners and local tourists that highlights the unique nightlife of Mandalay (Hotels-myanmar.com, 2015).
In getting to the Mandalay districts coming from the Mandalay Airport, they can take a taxi going to the Paleik take around 18 to 20 minutes. From Paleik train station they can take a ride going to the Mandalay Central. This will take around one and a half hour travel time or more and from the Mandalay Central they can walk around the streets to look for the best nightlife areas or the Marionette. They can also rent a car if they want a more comfortable ride going directly to the best nightlife areas (Rome2rios.com, 2015).
The Marionette in C3 and their Puppet Show starts at 6pm and usually end around 8:00pm, although this may extend depending on the program. According to the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism, there are ways they can visit Myanmar responsively to enjoy their travel within the country such as respecting their culture and traditions, smile and wear decent clothing at all times. No touching of the head, especially for women and don’t take pictures without their authority. Do not point fingers or disturb people praying. Myanmar also like tourists participates in their shows and festivals (Hans Sedel Foundation, 2012).
