The Best Nightlife Area in the Old Market Area, Siem Reap
The Psar Chaa-old Market Area is located on Sivutha Boulevard, Siem Reap, it is one of the liveliest place for nightlife; this place is considered as one of the best nightlife areas in Siem Reap when it comes to dining, drinking, shopping and meeting new friends. Most of their venues are visited by locals, expats and foreigners while visiting the temples in Siem Reap. They are also challenged with some bars, pubs and restaurants that offer authentic Cambodian delicacies and street foods such as roasted bugs and barbeque frogs, crickets, grasshoppers, tarantula and other authentic local foods (Guiddoo.com, 2015).
Some of the best nightlife areas include the Laundry Bar is the favorite among the expats with pool tables and loud music. The Banana Leaf has live bands and TV for sports viewing. The Picasso bar is an artistic bar with a cosmopolitan atmosphere popular for their cocktail and drinks. The Warehouse Bar is mostly visited by tourists and expats, including NGO workers, with WiFi for social media, Asian and Western foods are served here. The Barcode Gay Club and Lounge offer huge indoor space for dinner and parties. They also have terrace for outdoor chat and intimate conversation (Cambodia-Hhotels.com, 2015).
Getting to the best nightlife areas in the Old Market is easy; coming from the Siem Reap Airport they can simply take a taxi going to the Old Market is just a few minutes, this will only cost about a KHR8500 to KHR8600 Cambodian Riel. For cost effective travel they can also book in advance to their hotel accommodation where car services are available for customers. Alternatively, if they want to get familiar within the vicinity of the Old Market, they can also choose to walk via street 10 or street 63 (Rome2rio.com, 2015).
The best nightlife areas within the Old Market open as early as 5:00 pm until midnight. Based on the experience of Walewinder (2014) eating exotic foods from the streets and restaurants is not always safe and people are still at risk from potential danger and food poisoning if they are not familiar with the food. She also suggests not do drink water from an unknown source, if possible watch how the food is prepared and pay attention to cleanliness and other sanitary details.
